RESTORATION
[Image 3]
I'm
getting away from rectangular cleats, diamonds rule. Over the years I've seen
a few fine old restorations. Invariably you would see diamond-shaped cleats
being used. I have started to use them in recent years and I love them. They
have a much better strength to weight ratio and they cover more of the crack
than rectangular cleats. The down side is that they are much more difficult
to make and take more care to apply. I never mind paying that price if I get
a superior result.
